Sportstar to host 1st-ever Northeast Sports Conclave in Guwahati

On Friday at the Radisson BLU Hotel in Guwahati, Sportstar will host the first-ever Northeast Sports Conclave. The conclave will feature a number of speakers who will discuss key issues relating to the region’s sports ecosystem, according to a statement.

The keynote address will be given by Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will share his vision for regional sports development.

The presence of Olympic medalists Mirabai Chanu (Silver Medalist) and Lovlina Borgohain (Bronze Medalist) from Tokyo 2020 will be the highlight of the event.

A panel discussion on Northeast Sports and Infrastructure will be one of the many segments of the full-day conclave.

Jayanta Talukdar, Olympic archer, boxer Sarita Devi, gold medalist at the World Championship, Pramod Boro, chief Bodoland Territorial Council, and Tetea Hmar, secretary, Mizoram Football Association will discuss traditional Northeast sports.

There will also be a discussion on how to turn the Northeast into India’s sports hub.

Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, Director – SAI, RC Guwahati, India hockey player Kothajit Singh, and Olympic bronze medalist M. C. Mary Kom will all speak.
