Meghalaya To Recommence Tourism from September 1

The Meghalaya Government has decided to recommence tourism activities from September 1, as the number of COVID 19 positive cases has declined in recent weeks. This decision was announced by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma during a discussion in the Cabinet Meeting of Shillong on Tuesday. The Government has also listed strict COVID 19 protocols, which is to be followed by the Tourist.

Tourists who are completely vaccinated (i.e. have received both doses) will be allowed to visit Meghalaya for tourism purposes from September 1. Tourists who have not been vaccinated or who have only had a single dose of the vaccine must present a negative report (RTPCR/TrueNat/CBNAAT report) valid only if they tested within 72 hours of arriving at the entrance point.

Local visitors who are fully vaccinated/vaccinated with a single dose from within the state will be permitted to visit any area in Meghalaya for tourism purposes.
