A bear attacked forest officials and was shot and killed by a team of forest department officers during a rescue operation in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli on Wednesday (September 22).
According to the forest department, the incident occurred at around 12.30 a.m. on Wednesday (September 22) near Singhdwar in the Joshimath area of Chamoli, after the team received information from locals that a bear had been seen roaming around in the Singhdwar area.
“A 15-member team from the department that was patrolling the area quickly arrived at the scene and attempted to catch the bear with a net. The beat, on the other hand, attacked the team, injuring five people “In a statement, the forest department said. “In order to save their lives, forest department personnel shot the bear, which was then killed,” the statement continued.
