Sikkim : Beneficiaries to 35 families under Sikkim Grant of Award for Marriage with Disabled People

In the presence of Tshewang Gyachho Secretary, Social Justice and Welfare Department and Abinash Rai Joint Secretary-cum-Nodal Officer, under the Sikkim Grant of Award for Marriage with Disabled Persons, the Social Justice and Welfare Department (Disability Section) shortlisted 35 beneficiaries on December 14.

With an onetime grant of 2 lakhs per couple, the order is for people who agrees to marry and start a family with specially abled persons.

At Manan Kendra, Gangtok, East Sikkim, on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2020, the first token of the scheme was distributed by the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

State Bank of Sikkim distributed 35 Joint Account Demand Draft to the beneficiaries.

A joint account was asked to be opened under the State Bank of Sikkim to the married couples as beneficiaries.

The Government of Sikkim was thanked for providing the scheme by the beneficiaries from four districts.
