Nagaland: State Govt to announce ‘Unlock 8’ from November 1st

The state government has announced Unlock 8 from November 1 to December 15 as part of a phased reopening of activities.

The decision was made at a meeting of the high-powered committee (HPC) on Tuesday, which was chaired by chief minister Neiphiu Rio.

The minister of planning and coordination, Neiba Kronu, who is also the HPC spokesperson, addressed a press conference at his office chamber civil secretariat, saying the meeting decided to go with Unlock 8 after considering the briefings presented by the department of health and family welfare.

Kronu said that district task forces (DTFs) have been tasked with determining whether or not schools from grades I to IV in urban areas can reopen.

According to Kronu, the HPC has also decided to lift the night curfew and allow public transportation, such as buses and taxis, to operate at full capacity.

The minister has asked the DTFs to put more effort into organising vaccination drives, urging citizens to take the vaccine.

Kronu also stated that the annual Hornbill Festival would take place, but that the number of days would be determined later. Tourists who have been vaccinated will be allowed to visit the state during the festival, he said.
