District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) organized several programmes at the respective district quarters on March 12  in commemoration of the 75 years of India’s Independence with the theme, ‘Bharat Ka Amrut Mahatsav’.

Pamphlets on, ‘The Motor Vehicle Act 1988’ were distributed by Kohima DLSA around Kohima town with a view to create road safety awareness among drivers especially public transport vehicle drivers. Panel Lawyers reached out to more than 200 beneficiaries.

In Longleng, CJM Longleng & Secretary Ajongba Imchen urged the students of Good Shepherd School Longleng. He talked on the topic of fundamental rights and duties of every Indian citizen especially students in the nation building process. He also asserted the corruption ongoing at the district and suggested steps to curb them. He urged the students to come forward to the court with Public Interest Litigation for a change in the society by saying that the court is always ever ready to assist the citizens in every possible way.

Wokha DLSA organized a legal awareness programme at Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samity, Wokha. Lichumo Kikon, PLV delivered the keynote address and MA Lotha, Retainer Lawyer spoke on Legal Services & Legal Aid. Thungbeni Kikon, Case Worker (OSC) Wokha highlighted the topic Gender Based Violence.

Mon DLSA organized a legal awareness programme with Government High School ‘C’ Mon. N Mannon, Project Assistant DLSA delivered the keynote address. M Moba, Retainer Lawyer explained the importance of legal services and its duties and function. He also encouraged and challenged the students to excel and learn more on one’s own rights and be responsible citizens.

Peren DLSA while commemorating the event at Dungki Government High School distributed pamphlets in different dialects and highlighted the working of legal services authority.

Tuensang organized a programme at St Joseph’s School where Kumdilong Kessen JMFC cum Secretary Tuensang DLSA highlighted the importance of the celebration and also spoke about cyber crime and advised the students to use social media wisely. Soteth Anar, Project Assistant spoke on child labour and Right to Education and Antimangyang Chang, Retainer Lawyer spoke on protection of children from sexual offence and immoral trafficking and encouraged the students to be aware of their rights and duties.

Dimapur DLSA conducted a legal awareness programme in Namgalong Colony, Burma Camp. Keynote address was delivered by Somet C Chang, CJM & Secretary Dimapur DLSA. Temjensoba, Panel Lawyer, DDLSA spoke on the topic prevention of atrocities against SC/ST Act, Khumchuba Chang, Panel Lawyer, DDLSA spoke on basic legal rights, consumer rights, Domestic Violence Act, RTI, victim compensation schemes and various social welfare schemes. There was an interaction session after the programme.
