2,41,900 numbers of Methamphetamine tablets seized by Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) in the general area Kawnpui Vengthar on March 26.
According to specific information, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, Kolasib.
Sources from defence informed that the approximate cost of the recovered Methamphetamine tablets is Rs 12,09,50,000.
The Excise & Narcotics Department arrested one person and seized the contraband items.
“Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. Assam Rifles have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram,” Defence sources said.
