Mizoram Police organizes Commemoration Parades to pay honor to martyrs

Mizoram Police, like the rest of the country, organized Commemoration Parades to pay honor to the martyrs who have given their lives in the service of society and national security on Thursday.

Every year, October 21st is designated as ‘Police Commemoration Day’ across the country.

At 7:00 a.m., a ceremony was held at the state capital, district, and battalion headquarters.

Moreover, Martyrs Memorial, 1st Battalion MAP Headquarters, Aizawl, hosted the major parade and wreath-laying event.

State Chief Minister Zoramthanga, DGP SBK Singh, and other police personnel were present to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Meanwhile, everyone paid rich tributes to the Mizoram police officers who perished at the hands of enemies and put wreaths on a memorial stone built up at the headquarters of the Mizoram Armed Police as a symbol of respect to the martyred troops.

The names of 377 police martyrs who died in the line of duty in the last year, from September 1, 2020, to August 31, 2021, are being readout.

The day honors the supreme sacrifices of ten police officers in the line of duty defending national borders, when a police patrol party was attacked by Chinese forces crossing the Aksai Chin area near Hot Springs (Ladakh) on October 21, 1959, killing ten heroic officers.
