Mizoram has officially launched the Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) project, a central government program aimed at improving road safety.
The Integrated Road Accident Database Project is an initiative taken by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) aiming to improve road safety measures in Mizoram.
The project was launched by Home Minister Lalchamliana on Tuesday at an event hosted at the Mizoram Police Headquarters in Aizawl
Meanwhile, the home minister expressed hope that the project will assist the state PWD in strengthening road safety measures in the state.
In addition, other key projects which include projects like CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Networks and Systems) and 112 ERSS (Emergency Response Support System) will be implemented within the state police department.
He announced that major projects such as the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) and the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) would be launched in the state soon.
The goal of the iRAD project is to provide a method for collecting and analyzing road accident data from around the country in order to better understand accident causes.
As a result, develop innovative actions and strategies to help India reduce the number of road accidents and improve road safety.
The Integrated Road Accident Database application was created and is available on both the Android and iOS platforms as well as the web platform.
The project has been in place in the state, as well as the rest of the country, since September 15th.
Mizoram has recorded at least 17 traffic accidents, two of which were fatal, since implementing the iRAD program in September.
