Mizoram: CBI Registers Case Against Intelligence Officer

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a case against a senior intelligence officer (SIO) of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Aizawl Regional Unit (Superintendent of Customs and now on loan to DRI) after he was discovered to have alleged disproportionate assets worth Rs.72, 27,768 approx.

According to sources, the asset discovered in the name of the SIO is worth 80% of his income. The accused SIO official amassed huge assets, both movable and immovable, totaling Rs.1,42,71,447 (approx) between January 2014 and May 2021, including three Homestead lands in Kangpokpi (Manipur), two RCC buildings in Imphal East and Aizawl, and bank balances, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income of Rs.72 lakh (approx).

The CBI conducted a search operation at the SIO’s house and office in Aizwal and Imphal on Friday. They discovered paperwork relating to the land acquisition, bank accounts in the names of the accused and his wife at numerous banks, insurance policies, opulent household items, and other incriminating documents.
