On Monday, Ka Sur Ka Bri Hynniewtrep (KSKBH) announced that a sit-in demonstration on Wednesday to demand the suspension of senior police officials responsible for the death of former HNLC leader Chesterfield Thangkhiew.
The sit-in will be held in Malki at 11 a.m morning.
Thangkhiew was killed in an encounter during a raid on his Shillong home in the early hours of July 13th.
The public has been outraged by Thangkhiew’s death, which has been dubbed a false encounter and a violation of human rights by the police.
The state’s Home Minister resigned as a result, and the cabinet made a flurry of changes in response to the occurrence and the outrage.
Chesterfield Thangkiew was an ex-rebel leader from the banned outfit.
He is said to have been a self-styled general secretary and one of the founding members of HNLC.
KSKBH general secretary Marbud Dkhar, on the other hand, stated that they will also send a memorandum to the government outlining their demands and that they will not stop until their demands are met.
