Meghalaya : Bail to former MLA over of raping a minor

Former MLA Julius Kitbok Dorphang was granted bail by the Meghalaya High Court. He was alleged for raping a 14-year minor girl in 2017.

Justice Wanlura Diengdoh among a single bench of high court justice granted bail to the former Mawhati MLA on “medical ground”, according to reports.

Booked under the POCSO Act in 2017, Kitbok was charged for sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl who was rescued from a sex racket.

The former MLA was identified by the minor girl via photograph as the accused.

Orders from Court is still awaited.

After hiding for 11 days after the FIR was filed by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Dorphang was arrested from an inter-state bus terminus (ISBT) at Gorchuk in Assam.
