Assam Covid Crisis: Rate of infection high compared to last two waves

In Assam’s Dibrugarh district, the rate of COVID-19 infection is much higher than in the previous two waves of the pandemic. Dr. Nabojyoti Gogoi, nodal officer for the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, stated this.

“Many people have contracted the virus in the last three days,” Dr. Gogoi said. In comparison to the previous two waves, the infection rate is much higher.”

“The COVID-19 situation in Dibrugarh is not good,” he added. On Wednesday, at least 538 new COVID-19 cases were discovered in the Dibrugarh district.

Meanwhile, the Dibrugarh district administration has issued new guidelines in an attempt to stem the rise in COVID infection. Masks are now required to be worn when leaving the house.

However, people are seen thronging market places without masks in many places. Meanwhile, at least two schools in Assam’s Dibrugarh district have been designated as containment zones.

Sessughat Silputa Sanjukta High School and Moderkhat Girls High School have been designated as containment zones in Dibrugarh.

These two schools have been closed for seven days after multiple COVID cases were discovered at each. After obtaining permission from the Dibrugarh deputy commissioner, the two schools will be allowed to reopen in seven days.
