No Pay for last 3 months; Employees of Majuli Ropax ferry service stages protest

Employees of the Majuli Ropax ferry service held a protest against the institution, enraged and frustrated by the non-payment of salary for the last three months. After the Ropax ferry services were abruptly shut down on Saturday morning, chaos reigned in Majuli.

The transit services on the Afolamukh ferry ghat were suspended, leaving many perplexed and dismayed. The Majuli Ropax ferry services have been suspended following a protest conducted by eleven ferry drivers recruited by the Assam government who have been waiting for their wages for the past three months.

The state government hired the 11 protesting drivers from the Dolphin Company, promising them substantial compensation, but it has been unable to pay them for the past three months. According to the contract, the Dolphin Company is required to pay the employees on schedule, but it has failed to do so. Employees have opted to sail the boats for more than three days after passengers requested it.

The workers of Majuli Ropax ferry service have accused the government and the Majuli district administration of turning a blind eye to their problems. The pending driver salary issue has been a long-standing issue that has periodically demanded a definitive call on the matter. People are having difficulties as a result of the suspension of transportation services.
