Double Vaxed Certificates Mandatory at Public Places in Assam from Today

The government of Assam has issued a fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which mandates all the citizens to carry their respective Covid double vaxed Certificates along with them. The SOP states that only double vaccinated people will be allowed to enter in public places and any mode of public transportation. It will come into effect from January 15.

“Non-vaccinated people shall not be allowed entry in public places/spaces (except hospitals) w.e.f. January 15, 2022. All people are required to carry proof of being fully vaccinated while visiting public places/spaces.

The owners of public/private establishments shall be responsible for ensuring that only those entrants who are fully vaccinated are allowed inside and this has to be done scrupulously by checking their vaccination status,” the SOP said.

The SOP also warned that the failure to comply with these instructions shall attract penal action.

The Kamrup Metropolitan (M) District Administration along with the state government have also issued orders mandating all Government servants, including permanent and contractual, to be fully vaccinated so as to attend offices. Non-vaccinated employees will be barred from attending office. As a result, they will have to avail for unpaid leave.

Furthermore, those health care workers and frontline workers who have not yet taken the precautionary booster dose, despite being eligible, will be prohibited from providing their services and claiming their salary or wages.

Random surveillance drives have been carried out by the Kamrup (M) administration at various parts of the city in order to ensure that the rules are not being violated.

The number of Covid-19 cases have drastically surged in the past few days. As many as 2348 people have been infected with the virus, of which 870 are from Kamrup (M) alone, as of 14 January.
