Assam: NF Railway cancels Five Express Trains due to Cyclone ‘Jawad’

Due to the cyclone ‘Jawad,’ the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has cancelled the services of five express trains. The trains have been cancelled, according to the NF Railway’s Twitter account.

The NF Railway announced that the Silchar-Thiruvanthapuram Central 12580 Express, which was set to begin service on December 2, 2021, has been cancelled.

The Bangalore Cantt.-Guwahati 12509 Express service, which was set to begin service on December 2, 2021, has also been cancelled.

The Kamakhya-Puri 12644 Express service, which was set to begin on December 4, 2021, has also been cancelled.

The 15905 Kanyakumari-Dibrugarh Express, which was scheduled to begin service on December 2, 2021, has also been cancelled.

The Odisha government issued guidelines to prevent the adverse effects of Cyclone Jawad on Thursday evening as the low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal continues to develop.

In light of the impending cyclonic situation, the Odisha government plans to deploy 266 teams in coastal districts, including the NDRF, State Fire Services, and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), according to Pradeep Kumar Jena, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).

Informing about the preparedness for Cyclonic Storm ‘JAWAD’ Jena said, “The State Government is well prepared to deal the emerging situation 14 coastal districts have been put on alert and asked to take all necessary steps in view of impending cyclonic storm.”
