Assam: Brahmaputra River sweeps away ferry after amotor failure in Guwahati

After a mechanical failure, a loaded ferry was swept away by the strong currents of the mighty Brahmaputra river on Monday. After colliding with a bridge being built across the river, the ferry reportedly experienced a motor failure. The passengers were terrified after the ferry, which was carrying people, vehicles, and other cargo, was swept away across two poles of the under-construction bitch.

On Monday evening, around 5:30 p.m., this incident occurred. When the incident occurred, the Baghbar ferry was reportedly heading towards North Guwahati. The fact that there were no rescue boats added to the terror. The ferry was eventually rescued by another ferry, Ropex, which sailed towards the boat and saved the passengers’ lives.

A major ferry accident occurred near the Nimati Ghat in Jorhat just last month, when two ferries collided on Brahmaputra river. Despite the fact that the majority of the passengers were rescued, a few others died as a result of the accident.
