Assam : Temporary halt of economic blockade against Nagaland

After Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal gave his confidence of a meeting over economic blockade, Karbi Students Association (KSA) removed the blockade.
The blockade was imposed as disapproval against illegal encroachment in the Daldali Reserve Forest in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district by Naga miscreants.
The indefinite blockade was removed on Friday.
“We have been informed and assured by the superintendent of police that the status quo will be maintained by both Nagaland and Karbi Anglong”, said KSA president, Simeon Rongphar.
“The district administration has also assured us that a discussion will be held on the erection of border pillar and eviction of the Indian Reserve Battalion camp,” he said.
At Khatkhati, a discussion was also held between KSA and the Dimapur Naga Students Union where both sides discussed about several issues which included the long-awaited border tension.
The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the Assam and Nagaland government is asked to solve the issue by the student organizations.
