On Monday, a man was crushed to death by wild elephants at Rani Reserve Forest, which is located on the outskirts of Guwahati. A forest officer identified the deceased as Rajib Boro, 35, the convener of shakti kendra in the BJP’s Rani Mandal.
The incident was discovered by the range officer at Rani sometime before morning, after which forest department and police authorities hurried to the scene to investigate the situation. A herd of elephants stormed the area near Boro’s home in Andhurijuli hamlet, killing the 35-year-old.
According to the official, his body was collected from the area and taken to the police station for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, Minister for Environment and Forest Parimal Suklabaidya expressed his condolences for Boro’s passing and wished his family well.
