Assam CM: APSC Combined Competitive Exam papers to be set in Assamese too

On Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government has decided to set question papers for the APSC Combined Competitive Exam in Assamese as well.

Chief Minister Sarma told the media at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Guwahati, that question papers are only set in English under the existing APSC Combined Competitive Exam Rules 1989. He informed that the candidates can write answers in the examination but “this does not have official legitimacy”.

“Under the existing APSC Combined Competitive Exam Rules 1989, the question papers are set out only in English. Although candidates can write the answers in Assamese, this does not have official legitimacy,” Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

“Today, Govt of Assam has decided that the question papers of this exam will be set out in Assamese too. This will provide the much needed legitimacy to the candidates writing their answers in Assamese,” he added.

Chief minister Sarma said, “Sharing Assam’s growth story and progress. Recent rankings and statistics as per #NFHS5 indicate that our commitment towards bringing positive changes to the lives of the people of Assam is right on track.”

“In the coming years, we will enthusiastically work to achieve our goal,” he added.
