Northeast all set to witness Flypast of Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic team

Flypast

In December, the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Suryakiran Aerobatic Team will perform a flyover over the Northeast. These flypasts are being held at various locations across the country to commemorate the Swarnim Vijay Varsh, or 50th anniversary of the 1971 war.

Around 93,000 Pakistani troops surrendered after the 1971 war, and a new country, Bangladesh, was born. On December 4, the Suryakirans will perform a display at Umiam Lake in Shillong, followed by two flypasts across the Northeast, culminating in a display at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati on December 12.

“Suryakiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force has always been the pride of the nation because of its professionalism, precision and prowess which has been proven time and again, in war and in peace,” IAF said in a statement.

The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team, also known as the Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force, is the Indian Air Force’s formation aerobatic unit. Formation aerobatics is the pinnacle of aviation skills. The team, which consists of 17 officers and 200 technicians, is formidable.

Since its inception in 1996, the team has been living up to the Indian Air Force’s motto of “Touch the Sky with Glory.”

The team, which has grown into a global phenomenon, is one of only a handful of 9-plane formation aerobatic teams in the world.

The team has completed more than 600 displays across the country and will also be representing India in Sri Lanka and Dubai in 2021.
