Arunachal: Legal Awareness programmes at KGBV Kangteng

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Saturday, the legal services authorities of Tawang, Lower Subansiri, Lohit, and Kurung Kumey districts held legal awareness programmes at KGBV Kangteng, St Claret College Ziro, the district jail in Tezu, and Malapu village, respectively.

During the programmes, speakers covered topics such as the National Legal Services Authority Act, the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, women’s rights, and the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, among others.

Free legal aid, the National Legal Services Authority Act of 1987, federal and state government programmes for children, and other topics were discussed by speakers. To educate students, we used the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, women’s rights, the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal, 1985, wildlife preservation, and bio-diversity conservation.

Lohit DLSA, in partnership with the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APLSA), held an event for 70 inmates at Tezu District Jail, while Kurung Kumey DLSA’s door-to-door programme in Malapu village benefited 31 people.
