In an historic event, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the first Women Police station in Tawang today. The inaugural ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including MLA Phurpa Tsering, Jambey Tashi, Tsering Tashi. The Security Advisor to Govt of Arunachal Pradesh Maj.Gen SC Mohanty AVSM, DGP R.P.Upadyaya and other senior officers from the State police and district administration were also present on the occasion.
The event could be marked as a turning point in promoting women empowerment in the State. The first women Police Station of Tawang will have Inspector Piku Kimsing as its first Officer In-charge along with three lady head constables and twelve lady constables. CM Pema Khandu felicitated the Officer in-charge with a traditional scarf.
Speaking on the occasion, Khandu congratulated the present DGP under whose leadership the performance of the state police has improved a lot and is one of the best equipped armed police forces. He suggested the Police authorities to successfully implement the inter-district transfer of police personnel under pan Arunachal Policy. He said that a police man after putting on his uniform shouldn’t belong to any community, race or religion he has to obey the orders passed on to him from his seniors.
