The Gaon Buras from Tezu and Sunpura circles took part in a day-long training cum sensitization programme on Tuesday, for a better village administration.

DC Marge Sora requested the gaon buras to work together with the administration to end illegal practices of poppy cultivation in Lohit.

The DC said, “Gaon bura post is full of responsibility and has vital role to play to usher a village in right direction including monitoring of proper implementation of both central & state schemes, dissemination of government policy and programs and assisting administration to ensure proper law & order situation in the district”.

“Depleting forest resources and its conservation, illegal quarry (lifting of RBM) from river, indiscriminate hunting and fishing need to be seriously taken care of,” he added.

Gaon bura’s recent empowerment, retirement and qualification are also highlighted in putting emphasis on justice delivery system related to imposing fine and sorting out dispute at the village level are well informed.

Sunpura EAC Vekuilum Billai said, “Participation of national festival is mandatory, avoid roaming in red coat and its misuse and bridging the gap of village and district administration has been pivotal role for gaon buras”.
