Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang laid the foundation stone for the 400-bed Model Residential School at Linia village on Thursday in the presence of Education Minister Taba Tedir and Agriculture Minister Tage Taki.
Linia village is located in Param Putu circle of Upper Yachuli area in Lower Subansiri district. It is around 24 km away from Ziro.
Congratulating the people of Param Putu circle, Minister Alo Libang said that the establishment of this model residential school shall revolutionize the education scenario of the area.
He appealed to all the public to nurture this project with utmost care and facilitate the contractors to complete the project in a time-bound manner.
“By 2023 the school should become functional. The requirement of another school campus and the land demarcation should be finalized at the earliest,” he further added while appealing for cooperation and coordination between the villagers, contractors and the landowners.
Minister Libang, who is also the health minister, further appealed to all the public to come forward and get vaccinated for COVID-19. He emphasized the need for all religious leaders to encourage their believers to get vaccinated.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by the Taderko Linia Welfare Society (TLWS) for medical staff quarters, Libang informed that the government is in the process of identifying and segregating health facilities that are functional and non-functional. After final consultation with the concerned elective representatives and based on need and utility; PHCs and CHCs will be renovated and upgraded into model health facilities. He extended support once the identification and the selection process had been completed.
Agriculture Minister Tage Taki while speaking on the occasion also called for unified efforts from all the stakeholders for completing the school by 2023.
“Once the school becomes functional, other developmental and economical activities around this area will be given a major thrust,” he said.
While responding to the memorandum submitted by the TLWS for setting up a veterinary sub centre, he assured to establish one. He further sought assurance from the public to get their mithuns vaccinated and assist the veterinarians during the vaccination drives.
Local MLA and Education Minister Taba Tedir also spoke on the occasion.
He urged the engineering wing of the department to not compromise on the quality of work.
He also called for monitoring the teaching process in the village schools by the PRI members.
“Absenteeism and non-performance of the teachers should be reported immediately if we have to change the system,” he added while informing about the “Know your teacher” facility available on the department’s website www.education.arunachal.gov.in.
Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang and ZPC Likha Sangchhore, SJETA Director Yumlam Kaha, Tania Tajing, BJP Mandal president Tania Taker, GPC also spoke on the occasion.
The 36 crore project under the SJETA department will house an academic block, an administrative block, two girls and boys each, a principal quarter, five type II quarters, a guest house and a kitchen and dining hall. The project is being executed by the engineering wing of the education department.
