On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pema Khandu was presented with the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal, or Victory Flame, by Maj Gen Zubin A Minwalla, GoC, 5 Mountain Division.
The ‘victory flame,’ which represents India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971, arrived in Tawang on Monday after travelling from New Delhi last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked off the 50th anniversary of the triumph – Swarnim Vijay Varsh – from the National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16, 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Khandu said, “The Victory Flame lit by the prime minister has reignited the sense of unity across the country while remembering the sacrifices of our brave soldiers in the 1971 war.”
The commission stated that it would monitor the situation and give annual reports to the government for improvement.
