Yashni Nagarajan, daughter of former state PWD engineer Thangavel Nagrajan and his wife Sushila, who was born in General Hospital, present day Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in 1993, has joined Arunachal Pradesh as an IAS officer.
Yashni, who had cracked the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Service Examination-2019 by securing 57th rank and had desired to serve Arunachal Pradesh first for which she had opted for AGMUT cadre as published in 6th August 2020 issue.
The Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram & other Union Territories (AGMUT) is an IAS cadre envisioning posting mostly to above- named states and UTs, but Yashni’s desire reflected her attachment to the land where she was born and completed her schooling and higher education.
After schooling from Naharlagun Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and qualifying B. Tech (EEE) from National Institute of Engineering, Yupia in 2014, like her parents. Her father Nagrajan is a committed engineer while mother known as a good doer, retired as superintendent of Itanagar branch of Gauhati High Court Registry.
She had proved to be a target shooter by hitting the eyeball (IAS) she wanted. Her posting to Arunachal Pradesh has fulfilled her desire. She had joined at East Kameng district Seppa as COVID-19 nodal officer but was called to state capital with the number of COVID cases rising and attached to health department in Civil Secretariat here since May 19 to look after COVID-19 management though she has been posted as East Kameng Additional deputy commissioner.
The transfer and posting of IAS officers are done by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, but Yashni has been posted to Arunachal Pradesh, her second home. This amounted to the ‘pay back’ principle and she is very lucky to get this opportunity in her first posting.
