Kra Daadi Zilla Parishad and Bokoriang-I gram panchayat under Papum Pare Zilla Parishad have been selected by Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj from Arunachal Pradesh to join as Panchayat Ambassadors (Beacon Panchayats) in celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate India’s 75th year of independence.
Home Minister Bamang Felix, during a virtual meeting with all ZPC chairpersons and district panchayat development officer (DPDOs) on Tuesday, advocated holistic approach for uplift of rural population.
He informed the ZPCs about the various schemes being undertaken by Panchayati Raj Department (PRD) while the state Govt is committed to devolve powers to Panchayati Raj Institution in real terms.
“An empowered committee headed by the chief secretary is working for devolution of powers to the PRIs for their full involvement in all the Govt schemes”, Felix disclosed.
The DPDOs have been asked to speed up all time bound works of MoPR, like formulation of model panchayat citizen charter, uploading of COVID-19 data to cowin website and complete registration process in eGramSwaraj portal.
Secretary (RD&PR), Amarnath Talwade informed about the steps being taken by the department in strengthening PRIs. The welfare of the PRIs shall be taken care of, he assured the participating ZPCs.
ZPCs of West Siang, Tawang, Tirap, West Kameng and Kamle Zilla Parishad made suggestions and requested for some amendments in funding pattern of 15th FC grants owing to practical problems in the implementation of cluster farming in the ground.
They lauded the allocation of fund by the state government for procurement of new vehicle for all 25 ZPCs.
